Mabuhay to all the bloggers out there! I am euphoric as this is the first time to create my own personal (no longer depending on the school classwebsite) blog through the help of techy colleagues like Alicia and Melissa. Awesome! My name is Marianne Pagcaliwagan and I am ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher working with Grade One students. I've been working for many years now and as they say, "it's never too late to learn!"

About technology in education:

What I like? I like it a lot that I invested in an ipad two years ago to learn more about technology. I downloaded a lot of kid friendly apps to support the learning of my ESL students e.g. grammar games, alphabet recognition, etc.
I created personal projects through buying apps like iMovie, comic strip, etc. I sent these through youtube or e mail to my sister and her daughters. They haven't been home for a while so taking photographs of the family delivered funny messages and quote through the apps.

What I don't like? In less than two years time, the ipad became obsolete. I don't like it because it's so heavy and cumbersome to carry. I don't like it because it was expensive to buy the apps and having to pay through credit.
My next goal is to buy an iphone and that leads to the next thing....

Questions: How do I maximize on the use of the iphone? I want to be able to keep all the apps and play my candy crush on the side through the smaller screen.

Concerns: I need to find the time to learn new things through the Level up Course. I hope I meet all the requirements because wifi isn't available anywhere and in posting blogs, I want to keep creating to make better ones for my own personal use.

Favorite things: Reading blogs of relatives or friends who post milestones....perusing through the facebook pages to find out the latest with family and friends.

Favorite place in the Philippines: Batangas...my husband owns a property in Batangas City. Not far from there is our favorite resort were we hang out as a couple called Pontefino. Batangas is a short enjoyable ride and we meet up with his relatives who live around the area plus he has about 20+ mango trees from where we harvest the sweetest mangoes from March to June.
